How Big Companies will Play a Big Role in Future Society

So this week I came across an article that explained how Amazon is opening up cashier free stores. A store they just opened up is located in Chicago. This store is smaller than regular grocery stores and mainly just sells ready-made lunches, basic groceries, drinks and snacks. If you were to compare these stores to anything, it would be similar to a 7-eleven. These stores have absolutely no cashiers and do not deal with cash. You simply walk into the store, pick out the things you would like to get and just walk out. As soon as you step out of the store it automatically charges you on your Amazon account. Many other companies, worldwide, are trying to do the same thing but they don’t have the best technology like Amazon does.

Although these stores seem like a great thing, I personally do not think they are the best for society itself. Yes there are no checkout lines, and yes you can get basic grocery items faster, but what other benefits come from this? All this is doing is secluding people from society and people will start having no interaction with anyone in their community. I strongly believe that people need to live a life interacting with others in the world, because it will help them tremendously in the work environment and just their life in general. Whether the interaction with others is good or bad, it helps teach you things that will benefit you when you have a job or when you run into situations with others that need to be fixed.

To me it just seems like all people want nowadays are things that will just benefit them and nobody else. The world has always been full of greed and wants but it just seems to be getting worse and worse. Pretty soon we won’t have to deal with people at all in the groceries stores or won’t have to deal with waiting in any lines; but how else will we learn about patience and how else will we be able to practice it.Not only does this affect people’s social skills, but it also takes away job opportunities.

People love using Amazon, and probably always will, but at what cost?

Polaris

So today on February 19th I will be talking about one of my favorite companies in the world, Polaris. Most people are at least a little familiar with Polaris; and if you love to live your life outdoors then I’m guessing you may know this company quite well.

Polaris was founded in 1954 somewhere in the most northern part of Minnesota (Roseau MN.). It was originally founded by three friends who actually started to make and sell farm equipment. They later created one of the first snow machines that we today now call snowmobiles. Polaris today now owns around 30 brands that all consist of different things; like snowmobiles, motorcycles, fishing boats, pontoon boats, UTVs, ATVs and even military off-road vehicles. They are now considered a global leader in their industry and strive to create/invent new vehicles each year.

One of my favourite brands they have is the Polaris Rzr. The all new 2020 Polaris Rzr XP Turbo is a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) that comes stock with 168 horsepower on a 999cc engine. This vehicle has twin turbos, four wheel drive, Fox suspension and literally anything else you need to forget about the world for a day, and just ride it until the tires fall off. The market and industry for vehicles like this is booming! The UTV I just named has an MSRP of $22,500, and it’s not even street legal! Polaris and other companies have to make a newer model of this machine every year that is bigger and better than the last, in hopes of having the better machine than all the machines made from its competitive firms. The type of people that are in the market for a UTV like the Polaris Rzr are people that I would call “Ricky Bobbys”, “They just want to go fast”. The Rzr is definitely not a machine that you buy to go drive slowly around a golf course or in a neighborhood; it’s a machine that’s meant to be driven on some crazy trails in the woods or on some sand dunes.

I hope to one day work for a company like Polaris, just because I have always had an interest in machines like this and I have always been in love with this industry. If you have never experienced a machine like this I would highly recommend doing it at least once.

“Streaming” Life as We Know It

So lately, when I get the chance to go home, by dad has been bringing me these Magazines called “Bloomberg Businessweek”. Last week He gave me a whole stack that he has been saving at his work and thought I would enjoy reading some of them. Well, recently I have finally had some time on my hands to open them up and see what they are all about. So today I am going to write my blog on one of the articles that i found interesting that was published in August of 2019.

The particular Article that I came across is titled, “All Over But The Streaming”. This article mainly talks about how everyone is now streaming live TV, past season shows, movies and more. But what I found interesting is the amount of companies that are actually getting into this business. More and more companies are spending loads on streaming services and are eager to compete with the leading streaming programs like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, HBO, and Hulu. In order for these big companies to stay on top of the game they too also have to spend loads of money. Did you know that Disney plans on spending 1 billion dollars on their streaming service (Disney plus) and don’t plan on seeing a profit until 2024? That is a huge business deal; and on top of that they paid 5.8 billion dollars for Comcast to take over Hulu. Another big business deal was made by Amazon where they spent 250 million dollars for the rights to a TV show based off of the Lord of The Rings. They made this deal before a single script was even created. Before we know it Actual TV and Cable will not even exist. Whatever happened to the old ways, where there were less than 100 channels. Or the days when there was something important going on in the word it was almost on every channel.

I really found all this interesting and thought I would share it with you. I always knew streaming was going to big, ever since Netflix kicked Blockbuster out of business but I never knew it would ever go this far. Not only that but when does all this nonsense stop? I guess only time will tell.
